Goodbye... Hello... Again...

Finally, it's my last day here in our UP Ayala Land Techno Hub site. I have been handling this site as the HR Head for 6 months. It has been my second home since I left Makati. I've seen this site grow from 200+ to 730+ employees. I've been used to the greenery, to the low-rise buildings and the quiet lunch and coffee breaks that I spend alone whether in the office pantry or the nearby restos and coffee shops. I've been used to the long, quiet walks going to the retail area, often hanging out in the friendly National Bookstore. But now I have to turn my back and say goodbye to it all. I have to leave the nice people I've met behind - my staff of 2 newbies in the company, the friendly guards, receptionists, maintenance, IT, Clinic and Facilities peeps. All because of the feeling that I need to move on. That I have done what I should, given all I can, and there's nothing more I can offer. I requested to be transferred back to Makati because no matter what I do here, I'll be stuck. Some people, for some reason, just seem so hard to work with. What's worse is that they don't seem that way when you're together. But they say different things - sometimes bad things about you that are often baseless, to other people. Some people just don't want other people to move up. And some people choose to listen to them one-sidedly. And so, after spreading myself too thinly, waiting for that move to happen, I felt that was it. I was stuck and I have to get out of here. Fast. I'm just so glad that there are still some good people around -- people who listen, people who care. On Monday, I will be in another world. Though I will not be managing a site anymore, I will be working with the same friendly faces I used to work wih. I know it will be fun. Fun because I will be working with the Makati team again. Fun because our new office is next to a new mall. Yes, I will be working in Glorietta 5. And I finally get to have a better schedule because I will no longer have to extend long hours at work. I am happier now, despite having been in a thankless work environment, I can finally say that I am home - home in Makati. Though this is a temporary assignment, do wish me luck in my new site. By the way, here are the last photos I took on my last day...

Addicted to Facebook!

Oh yeah! My husband and I have been addicted to Facebook! We've been taking turns on his slow wireless internet connection and sleeping late just to do our respective fb stuff. Tsk.. He is a certified Mafia Wars addict slash Poker semi-addict, while I so enjoy answering the quizzes, top 5 and know-it-all challenges. How I wish we can have a faster DSL connection at home. But the last time we inquired, we were informed by all the DSL providers that our area is not DSL ready. Wtf?! We live in Cubao, near Katipunan and Libis, but we are not DSL ready?! That is so sad! We'll try our luck again on Friday (yes, Friday's a HOLIDAY!), at PLDT's DSL promo. Sana naman pwede na! =)

Happy Birthday Ahmee!

Ahmee is my mom. It's a term of endearment I derived from "mommy". She celebrated her birthday yesterday. We are here on a long vacation in my parents' house as if it were a weekend already. We are usually here on weekends. But this week is different. It's because Ahmee's birthday falls on a Thursday. And we have been here since Wednesday. To my Ahmee, Happy birthday! I pray that you will be able to live the life you really want when you retire - but I hope you'll retire soon. Ahmee is a typical employee - not a Robert Kiyosaki believer like me. She's been working so hard and work has become a very big part of her. But I really wish she would be able to see the other beautiful things that life has to offer. I wish she would be able to travel, cook (she so loves to cook), shop and visit the salon more often. Happy birthday once again Ahmee! Luv u! :)

Blood Tests done today!

I finally had my tests done today. My husband and I went to the Reproductive Immunology clinic of Dr. Ed Lim in TM Kalaw Center this morning for a series of blood tests that would help us determine what caused my 2 miscarriages and what treatment should be done so that we can have a baby soon.

A Chinese-looking Med Tech took my blood samples - yes, samples! She had to fill 5 test tubes for these tests. 3 will be sent to the US for the Natural Killer Cells testing, the other 2 will be left here, as they will do the other tests locally.

As mentioned in my previous post, we had to pay a huge amount for these tests. The tests that will be done locally cost us P12,900. We also had to pay USD568 for the test for Natural Killer Cells, which will be done at the Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, IL. The shipping cost of my blood sample that will be sent to the US was P5,000.

Results will be available in two weeks. We really pray for good results. We also hope that we can afford the treatment. We really want to have a baby soon.

Susan Boyle Made Me Cry

It was only last week when I saw the video of Susan Boyle on youtube. I heard about her from the people at work and saw news about her from Yahoo, which happens to be my homepage whenever I surf the net. But I didn't really got to see her video singing Fantine's I Dreamed a Dream until last week. What a powerful voice she has! I was amazed by how effortless she sang. And yes, the people who were making faces when she was being introduced, the people who gave her insulting looks, were the same people who gave her a standing ovation when they heard her sing. And that was what made me cry. She has proven once again that we should not judge a book by its cover.

Here are the lyrics of the song I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.

Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Reproductive Immunology

I mentioned in my previous post that I consulted an OB who is specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology. She told me that having 2 MCs in a row is a manifestation of possible immunologic problems. Based on her explanation as well as based on my research, immunologic problems hinder the development of the baby inside the mother's uterus, and in worst cases, killing the baby in the process. It usually happens during the first trimester and if not treated, the immune system tends to get stronger and have more killing capacity resulting in another MC.

According to my new OB, there are 5 Categories of Immunologic Problems.

Category 1 is called Alloimmune Antibody. A layman's explanation of this is when the mother's body treats the father's blood as her own. A more scientific explanation would be that in a mother's placenta, there are HLA antigens that come from the father. Alloimmune antibody happens when the couple shares DQ alpha antigens in common. The G molecule put on the placental cells by the father is too similar to the G molecule that the woman's father put on her placenta to sustain her in her mother's uterus. As a result, she does not make the blocking antibody, the baby dies, and her immune system recognizes the placenta as "altered self" (i.e., a cancer cell).

Treatment for this is called LIT (leukocyte immunization therapy), which may cost up to P70,000 per session, and may require a couple of sessions until the mother's cells forms an antibody against the father's.

Category 2 is Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APAS). Studies show that 22% of women with recurrent pregnancy losses have antiphospholipid antibodies. The incidence of this problem increases in women by 15% with each pregnancy that is lost. It is a significant consequence of infertility, implantation failures and recurrent pregnancy losses. APAS does not have a known etiology.

Antiphospholipid antibodies can cause thrombosis or blood clots in the blood vessels of the placenta. As we know, the placenta supplies the needed nutrition to the growing fetus. However, in an APAS case, with thrombosis happening in the placenta, it is unable to supply the fetus with the nutrition it needs, so the fetus may stop growing and may eventually die. There are some instances though when the fetus survives, but due to the intrauterine growth restriction in the mother's uterus, the baby may be too small at birth.

A damaged placenta may also lead to pre-eclampsia in the mother. Pre-eclampsia is a dangerous condition resulting in high blood pressure, edema (swelling) or kidney malfunction.

Treatment of APAS usually involves a small daily dose of Aspirin, which acts as anticoagulant, since patients with APAS have "sticky or thick blood". When a woman with APAS gets pregnant, she may also be given heparin. Heparin is a blood thinner. It can only be given by injection. The needle is very thin, and is put just under the skin. Most patients can do this by themselves. Heparin decreases the risk of thrombosis and pregnancy loss.

Category 3 is Positive Anti Nuclear Antibody (ANA). Women with this problem need antibodies to DNA, or DNA breakdown products in the embryo or in the pregnancy. These antibodies form first in the blood as IgM. As the problem gets worse, they appear as IgG and live in the lymphatic system and lymph nodes. With more losses, they form IgA antibodies which have their home and action in the organs including the uterus. These antibodies can be against pure double stranded DNA (ds DNA), single-stranded DNA (ss DNA), or smaller molecules called polynucleotides and histones that make up the single strands. Autoantibody to DNA leads to inflammation in the placenta.

My doctor said that if my tests turn positive in Category 3 (I really hope not), I will be given steroids.

Category 4 is called Antisperm Antibody. In this case, the mother's body rejects the sperm. When antisperm antibodies develop, they will inactivate or attack sperm from the husband and any donor (i.e., they are not partner specific). The presence of antisperm antibodies in women strongly predicts that she will also have Category 5 Immune Problems.

Category 5 is the most difficult and most expensive to cure, according to my doctor. Category 5 involves the Natural Killer Cells. This killer cells sees the growing embryo as a threat to the mother's body, like cancer, thereby ends up killing or expelling the embryo.

I will be undergoing tests to check on these Categories and to find answers to my recurrent miscarriages. The tests will be done in a clinic in TM Kalaw Avenue, Manila. The first set would cost us about P12,500. This will be a comprehensive blood test, covering the first 3 categories. My doctor did not request for a test for Category 4 anymore (Antisperm), since I do not any problem with fertilization and conception. The test for Category 5 (Natural Killer Cells) is more expensive. It will cost us USD560 as the test will be done in the US. My blood sample will be shipped, which costs P5,000.

Right now, my husband and I are still in the process of raising funds for those tests. What worries us is that the test will just be the first step in this journey. Treatment and further tests will be another. We admit that in these difficult times, it would be really hard for us to afford these tests and treatments. But we know that God will help us get through this tough situation. God will send us help from above. Our ardent wish is to have a baby of our own and to raise a happy family. So simple. Yet it seems so hard..

Normal

My husband and I underwent the first set of tests (the more affordable ones) requested by our new doctor.
I had my hormone (prolactin), rubella titer and serum insulin test in Asiatic, a Chinese-owned laboratory in Broadway Avenue, QC.

Hubby had his semen analysis done in Victory ART laboratory in Makati. The said lab is managed (not sure if owned also) by Dr. Greg Pastorfide, Kris Aquino's OB Gyne.

Both tests showed normal results. We are just really waiting for the Immunologic tests, which I mentioned in my previous post, to confirm what is really wrong with me, and to know what treatment needs to be done.

Polycystic Ovaries

  • On my first visit to my new OB, she did an ultrasound on me and confirmed that I have Polycystic Ovaries. However, since I have my monthly periods and I am able to conceive, PCOS is not a major concern for me as of now. Nonetheless, I was given Metformin (1 tab a day, before bedtime) to manage this condition.

This made me research on PCOS more. According to the materials that I have read,PCOS is a health problem that can affect a woman’s menstrual cycle, ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance. Typical signs of PCOS are high levels of androgens, sometimes called male hormones, although females also make them; missed or irregular periods; and many small cysts (sists) in their ovaries. About 1 in every 10 women in the reproductive age has PCOS. The cause, however, is unknown, though some studies show that PCOS runs in the family.

Symptoms of PCOS include the following:
  • infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
  • infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating
  • increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes-a condition called hirsutism
  • ovarian cysts
  • acne, oily skin, or dandruff
  • weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
  • insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
  • high cholesterol
  • high blood pressure
  • male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
  • patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
  • skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
  • pelvic pain
  • anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility
  • sleep apnea–excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep

PCOS may be treated using diabetes medications (such as Metformin). Metformin affects the way insulin controls blood glucose (sugar) and lowers testosterone production. Abnormal hair growth will slow down, and ovulation may return after a few months of use. Recent research has shown metformin to have other positive effects, such as decreased body mass and improved cholesterol levels. Metformin will not cause a person to become diabetic.

Fertility medications may also be given to women with PCOS. Since patients with PCOS do not ovulate regularly (or not at all), fertility medications such as Clomid or Femara may help stimulate ovulation.

When a woman with PCOS gets pregnant, there appears to be higher rates of miscarriage, gestational diabetes, pregnancy-induced high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia), and premature delivery. A doctor, like mine, may prescribe Metformin. Metformin is a FDA pregnancy category B drug. It does not appear to cause major birth defects or other problems in pregnant women. But, there have been no studies of metformin on pregnant
women to confirm its safety. Talk to your doctor about taking metformin during pregnancy or if you are trying to become pregnant. Also, metformin is passed through milk in breastfeeding mothers. Talk with your doctor about metformin use if you are a nursing mother.

Women with PCOS also pose the following risks.
  • diabetes or pre-diabetes (impaired glucose tolerance)
  • higher risk of heart attack than women of the same age without PCOS.
  • risk of having high blood pressure.
  • high levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol and low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol.
  • the chance of getting endometrial cancer: irregular menstrual periods and the absence of ovulation cause women to produce the hormone estrogen, but not the hormone progesterone. Progesterone causes the endometrium to shed its lining each month as a menstrual period. Without progesterone, the endometrium becomes thick, which can cause heavy bleeding or irregular bleeding. Over time, this can lead to endometrial hyperplasia, when the lining grows too much, and cancer.

Absent?

Where was I?

I haven't been able to blog lately. A lot of things have happened and I didn't have time or energy to post them here. But now that I finally have nothing else to do, I will be sharing with you what I have been up to these past few weeks.

1. I changed OB. Yes - I went to Dra. Chiaoling Sua-Lao, a Reproductive Endocrinology expert recommended by a n@w sis. I had a total of 3 meetings with her. The first visit was last March 3, followed by March 10 (with Kristian), then March 12(with Kristian again). She said that based on my ultrasound and other previous tests, I don't have ovulation/fertility problems. She is suspecting immunologic problems as the reasons for my recurrent pregnancy losses (I had 2 MCs last year). She had me undergo a series of tests - hormones and immunology profile. I had the prolactin/rubella/serum insulin test at Asiatic in Broadway Ave, QC. I have yet to know the results. The next set of test - immunology profile is quite expensive - a total of P13K. Kristian and I are still saving up on these tests which will be done in Dr. Ed Lim's clinic in TM Kalaw Ave. The final test is for the killer cells, which, accdg to Dra. Chiaoling is the most expensive to treat. The test will be done in the US, to be paid in USD560 + P5K shipping cost. Whoa! Although I do not have any problem with my previous OB who was recommended by my SIL, I just felt that I needed to consult an expert on RPL problems, which explains the switch.

I will be posting more details on these tests soon.

2. I got sick. Ever heard of Costochondritis? It is a condition that causes chest pain due to inflammation of the cartilage and bones in the chest wall, accdg to about.com. I nearly collapsed/fainted last March 11 while attending novena mass. I experienced hyperventilation and chest pain and dizziness. I was on SL for the next 2 days. I went to St. Luke's ER the following day, and was advised not to do anything stressful. However, I only found out about the Constochondritis thing Saturday, when my mom forced me to see a Cardiologist. I also found out that the medicines given to me in the ER were wrong - one has an effect of a sleeping pill/sedative, while the other belongs to the aspirin family, which I am allergic to! What the..!

3. I met and lost Tweety aka Santina aka Annie. She is a darling kitten whom we adopted but eventually lost a week after. More on her in my next blogs. I really miss her.

4. A good mix of these things: Still contemplating on WAHW-hood. Looking for online money-making opportunities. Looking for a really efficient DSL provider. Looking for a day job (Day Job = Normal Life). Rediscovering my passions. Thinking of ways to invest and earn from a small capital. Worrying about future finances.

That's it for now. I will be posting more in the next few days. :)

Musings of a Soon-to-be-WAHW

In a month's time, I will have to decide whether or not to become a WAHW.

I am having mixed emotions as I type this post - partly excited, partly scared, partly relieved. I feel that 5 years is enough. I was able to work my way up the corporate ladder - from a shy Administrative Assistant for the HR Director in 2004, I got transferred to HR Operations pioneering the corporate site in 2005, a year later, I was promoted to HR Officer, and a year after that I was again promoted to Senior HR Officer (Assoc Manager). I got the highest performance appraisal rating for 2 years in a row.

Here are some of the pictures taken from years of hard work in this company...

1. The cute and shy AA

2. The original RCBC-CVG1 Team

3. My first own team ever

4. The team that grew this big - my CVG1 Team in 2008

5. As part of the HR Management Team

Although I was very much disappointed when my promotion was declined several times by several people for reasons that they don't clearly say, I have learned to become numb about it and decided to just go on with my work even without the promotion. Honestly, I am no longer thrilled about being promoted because I just know that this work is not something that I really enjoy doing. I have far better plans for myself than just sitting in the office for long hours, trying to please and impress everyone.

I have posted 6 questions in n@w, the online community for newlyweds, on being a work at home mom (wahm) or work at home wife (wahw). Those who were very kind to reply gave me bits and pieces of their experiences of having a home-based career. All of them were positive about it and I learned that it shouldn't be that scary at all. But still, I am scared - scared of how my family and my husband's family will react on my early retirement, scared of the financial impact of this decision, scared that I might not be successful, scared that I might get bored, etc...

Although I am just about 85% sure that I am doing the right thing, I know that I really should do it. Why? Because I want to live my life the way I know I should. I want to do the things that I have been putting off for the longest time - like studying make-up, baking, sewing, photography, etc. I know, I know. Some might say these are just for the rich - for those who can afford to do the things they want.

But isn't it the way life should be lived? By doing the things you enjoy doing, and by being with the ones who make you happy? I no longer enjoy what I do at work, and I would rather spend time with family and friends than most people at work - so why not leave?

I have read an article in a magazine months ago, about a woman who was diagnosed to have breast cancer. Since she had to undergo treatment, she needed to leave her work. In her free time, she was able to re-discover her passions - she found time to bake, paint and plant flowers in her garden. She was also able to spend quality time with her kids and her husband, who were very supportive of her. She is now in remission. I remember something about having to "stop and smell the flowers" in that article. That article served as an eye-opener for me. I don't want to wake up one day asking myself, "what did I do in the past 30 or so years of my life?", only to find out that most of my life, I have been in the office, trying to please the people who do not even care about me as a person. I do not want to wait for something as bad as having a terminal illness before I stop and smell the flowers.

There's a question that's always asked at the start of the business preview of one of the network marketing business that my husband and I are part of, "if time and money were not so limited, what would you do differently?" I don't have nothing against being employed, some people really get a kick out of the perks and the stable income of being an employee. But as I worked my way up the ladder, I realized that the higher you go, the lonelier you become. Sure, you will be paid higher, but this is in exchange of the pressure and demands of your work, as well as the enormous responsibilities you are given. There will be lesser friends at the top, fewer people who care. At the end of the day, it is ourselves, and our families, that matter - so why not spend most of my waking time doing the things I love and being with the people who matter to me?

So help me God... :)

I got this email from Ms. Mel today. She is one of the Sr. Managers in the HR Management Team and she usually forwards emails that are worth reading. I just thought I should post this because I know this will be an effective way to fight back - without appearing that you intend to do so. Read on..

**************************************

Someone has just made an insulting remark to you. What should you do? Insult him in return?

No. Do this: First, look the person in the eye. Say nothing. Just pause. That pause will upset him: he doesn't know what is coming. Then smile. This upsets him ever more. The pause and the smile are your weapons of choice.

Now say something like this very calmly, "Would you mind repeating what you just said? I want to make sure I heard it correctly."

Nine times out of ten this treatment will cause him to withdraw the insult in shame. Or he will become flustered and say, "Oh, skip it. I guess I was a bit hasty." Often he will apologize. Only very rarely will he repeat what he had said.

No matter what he does, you are in a strong position. You have overcome the insulter without uttering a harsh word. You have put him on the defensive. Now you are strong....and he is weak.

I Love Pink!

Last Thursday, I attended our weekly HR Managers Meeting in Makati. I used to attend it just by calling-in (telecon), but since we did not have our Site Leadership Meeting here at the Techno Hub 10PM that same day, I decided to work in Makati.

After our meeting, I gave myself a much deserved treat - I bought a lipstick and a blush. I went to Rustan's to buy a Bobbi Brown lipstick (tulle), then to SM to buy Max Factor's Miracle Touch blush (soft cardinal). I sooo love them! Just the right peachy-pink shades for me. They make me look and feel pretty even now that I am down with the flu.

Will go home early today before I spread the virus. Hehehe. :)

Childhood TV Memories

It's Friday! Friday is my favorite day of the week since it usually gives me more time to make muni-muni, or to be in a nostalgic mood. I've been meaning to post this a long time ago but been very busy with a lot of stuff at work lately - the merit increases, quarterly bonuses, sick leave conversions, etc.

So now that I finally got a chance (and access!) to search for my top 7 favorite tv ads in youtube, I'd like to share them with you. These tv commercials are my childhood favorites. Posting these videos give me a leisurely walk down memory lane -when things were much simpler - all I had to do was turn on the tv. =)

7. Royal Tru Orange - Mantika
Actually, I liked the Joey and Jenny tandem best. But this one was the only Joey clip in youtube.

6. Palmolive Shampoo - Hiyang

I'm a huge Lea fan! I remember collecting clippings of articles about her, her pictures, her print ads, when I was still a kid.

5. Newtex - Dalaga Ka Na
As a little girl, this ad really made me excited to grow up and become dalaga.

4. Coke - Tomorrow's People
I also liked Lilet, I used to sing her songs when I was a kid.

3. Purefoods - Goodbye Carlo
I think I was already in high school when this ad was released. But makes me feel young, nonetheless.

2.Jollibee - Ligaw
Need I say more? This made me dream of future suitors and future dates - sa Jollibee?!?

SAD:( Can't find any video clip for this!>>>

1. Sarsi - Angat Sa Iba!
This one I like best. I love singing this jingle in the shower - even until now! One of the best Filipino ads ever! I wish we could have more ads like this - really artistic, really Filipino.

Day 4 - Leaving HK

We left the guest house early, so as not to miss our 11AM flight back to Manila. We could've gotten lost if not for the old couple who told us that the bus stop for A21 was at the other side of the road... We were waiting in the bus stop for A21 going to Hung Hom! We were actually approached by another old woman a couple of minutes earlier but since she didn't speak English, I thought she was trying to sell us newspapers... I then realized that she was trying to tell us the same thing! Waaahhh...!

Anyway, we returned our Octopus Cards at the airport and got about HKD45+ refund each.

We had breakfast at Burger King before we checked-in our luggage. We had to ride the train to get to gate 70.

The flight was ok, we arrived Manila at 1PM. Mom and Dad picked us up, then we had late lunch in Pizza Hut along Magsaysay Ave.

That's it for our HK-Macau-2nd Honeymoon-Adventure! Till the next one! :)

Day 3 - Our Wedding Anniversary! More of Hong Kong

We left for Bus 973 Teminus in Canton Road around 10AM. We passed by Kowloon Park, which is very near our guest house to take some pictures and to marvel at the very clean park - very far in comparison to the parks here in Manila.

We then reached the terminus and rode bus 973 going to Stanley Market. It took us about an hour to reach Stanley. The place was really nice - clean and dreamy...

Here's our picture at the Murray House.

Here's the Tin Hau Temple.

We had lunch at Mc Donald's since food there was way overpriced for our budget. Hehehe.

Nonetheless, we were able to buy knick-knacks for pasalubong as well as souvenirs for our home.

Isn't the bay side dreamy?

Stanley seems to be an upscale, laid-back community, compared to the places in Kowloon such as TST and Mongkok, which are both overcrowded, modern and fast-paced. I like it there.

We went back to TST to have some photos at the clock tower and the nearby museums.

Kissing in HK!

We also bought Royce Chocolates (i love!) at the City Super in Harbour City, as well as some other chocolates (cheaper ones... for pasalubong) at Wellcome.

After that, we rode the MTR going to Central and went back to The Peak Tram Terminus, hoping that this time, we will be able to get to The Peak. And so we did. Take a look at the spectacular views.

Promise to self: When we go back to Hong Kong, we should already have a DSLR camera, to better capture these spectacular views! We really have to save up for this big-ticket item.

Then we left The Peak to have dinner at... guess where?

The Modern Toilet (22 Portland St. Mongkok)!

What a way to have an anniversary dinner! The food was good... and affordable... Plus the ambience was hip and fun.

After dinner, we walked towards Tung Choi (Ladies Market) to sample their bargain finds. Or so we thought! Their souvenir shirts were overpriced - 5 shirts for HKD100?! In Boracay we were able to buy great Bora shirts at 2 for P150. And the vendors in Mongkok have their unique way of harrassing people to buy their items.

Lesson learned: I swear I won't go back there anymore. Better buy at Stanley - same price but friendlier vendors and better ambience.

We ended our HK Day 3 almost past midnight.
