I got this email from Ms. Mel today. She is one of the Sr. Managers in the HR Management Team and she usually forwards emails that are worth reading. I just thought I should post this because I know this will be an effective way to fight back - without appearing that you intend to do so. Read on..

Someone has just made an insulting remark to you. What should you do? Insult him in return?

No. Do this: First, look the person in the eye. Say nothing. Just pause. That pause will upset him: he doesn't know what is coming. Then smile. This upsets him ever more. The pause and the smile are your weapons of choice.

Now say something like this very calmly, "Would you mind repeating what you just said? I want to make sure I heard it correctly."

Nine times out of ten this treatment will cause him to withdraw the insult in shame. Or he will become flustered and say, "Oh, skip it. I guess I was a bit hasty." Often he will apologize. Only very rarely will he repeat what he had said.

No matter what he does, you are in a strong position. You have overcome the insulter without uttering a harsh word. You have put him on the defensive. Now you are strong....and he is weak.

I Love Pink!

Last Thursday, I attended our weekly HR Managers Meeting in Makati. I used to attend it just by calling-in (telecon), but since we did not have our Site Leadership Meeting here at the Techno Hub 10PM that same day, I decided to work in Makati.

After our meeting, I gave myself a much deserved treat - I bought a lipstick and a blush. I went to Rustan's to buy a Bobbi Brown lipstick (tulle), then to SM to buy Max Factor's Miracle Touch blush (soft cardinal). I sooo love them! Just the right peachy-pink shades for me. They make me look and feel pretty even now that I am down with the flu.

Will go home early today before I spread the virus. Hehehe. :)

Childhood TV Memories

It's Friday! Friday is my favorite day of the week since it usually gives me more time to make muni-muni, or to be in a nostalgic mood. I've been meaning to post this a long time ago but been very busy with a lot of stuff at work lately - the merit increases, quarterly bonuses, sick leave conversions, etc.

So now that I finally got a chance (and access!) to search for my top 7 favorite tv ads in youtube, I'd like to share them with you. These tv commercials are my childhood favorites. Posting these videos give me a leisurely walk down memory lane -when things were much simpler - all I had to do was turn on the tv. =)

7. Royal Tru Orange - Mantika
Actually, I liked the Joey and Jenny tandem best. But this one was the only Joey clip in youtube.

6. Palmolive Shampoo - Hiyang

I'm a huge Lea fan! I remember collecting clippings of articles about her, her pictures, her print ads, when I was still a kid.

5. Newtex - Dalaga Ka Na
As a little girl, this ad really made me excited to grow up and become dalaga.

4. Coke - Tomorrow's People
I also liked Lilet, I used to sing her songs when I was a kid.

3. Purefoods - Goodbye Carlo
I think I was already in high school when this ad was released. But makes me feel young, nonetheless.

2.Jollibee - Ligaw
Need I say more? This made me dream of future suitors and future dates - sa Jollibee?!?

SAD:( Can't find any video clip for this!>>>

1. Sarsi - Angat Sa Iba!
This one I like best. I love singing this jingle in the shower - even until now! One of the best Filipino ads ever! I wish we could have more ads like this - really artistic, really Filipino.

Day 4 - Leaving HK

We left the guest house early, so as not to miss our 11AM flight back to Manila. We could've gotten lost if not for the old couple who told us that the bus stop for A21 was at the other side of the road... We were waiting in the bus stop for A21 going to Hung Hom! We were actually approached by another old woman a couple of minutes earlier but since she didn't speak English, I thought she was trying to sell us newspapers... I then realized that she was trying to tell us the same thing! Waaahhh...!

Anyway, we returned our Octopus Cards at the airport and got about HKD45+ refund each.

We had breakfast at Burger King before we checked-in our luggage. We had to ride the train to get to gate 70.

The flight was ok, we arrived Manila at 1PM. Mom and Dad picked us up, then we had late lunch in Pizza Hut along Magsaysay Ave.

That's it for our HK-Macau-2nd Honeymoon-Adventure! Till the next one! :)

Day 3 - Our Wedding Anniversary! More of Hong Kong

We left for Bus 973 Teminus in Canton Road around 10AM. We passed by Kowloon Park, which is very near our guest house to take some pictures and to marvel at the very clean park - very far in comparison to the parks here in Manila.

We then reached the terminus and rode bus 973 going to Stanley Market. It took us about an hour to reach Stanley. The place was really nice - clean and dreamy...

Here's our picture at the Murray House.

Here's the Tin Hau Temple.

We had lunch at Mc Donald's since food there was way overpriced for our budget. Hehehe.

Nonetheless, we were able to buy knick-knacks for pasalubong as well as souvenirs for our home.

Isn't the bay side dreamy?

Stanley seems to be an upscale, laid-back community, compared to the places in Kowloon such as TST and Mongkok, which are both overcrowded, modern and fast-paced. I like it there.

We went back to TST to have some photos at the clock tower and the nearby museums.

Kissing in HK!

We also bought Royce Chocolates (i love!) at the City Super in Harbour City, as well as some other chocolates (cheaper ones... for pasalubong) at Wellcome.

After that, we rode the MTR going to Central and went back to The Peak Tram Terminus, hoping that this time, we will be able to get to The Peak. And so we did. Take a look at the spectacular views.

Promise to self: When we go back to Hong Kong, we should already have a DSLR camera, to better capture these spectacular views! We really have to save up for this big-ticket item.

Then we left The Peak to have dinner at... guess where?

The Modern Toilet (22 Portland St. Mongkok)!

What a way to have an anniversary dinner! The food was good... and affordable... Plus the ambience was hip and fun.

After dinner, we walked towards Tung Choi (Ladies Market) to sample their bargain finds. Or so we thought! Their souvenir shirts were overpriced - 5 shirts for HKD100?! In Boracay we were able to buy great Bora shirts at 2 for P150. And the vendors in Mongkok have their unique way of harrassing people to buy their items.

Lesson learned: I swear I won't go back there anymore. Better buy at Stanley - same price but friendlier vendors and better ambience.

We ended our HK Day 3 almost past midnight.

Day 2 - Macau Macau!

Day 2's schedule was Macau and all its glory.

We left the guesthouse past 1030AM and made it to the HK Ferry Terminal in TST for the 11:30AM ferry schedule. The NWFF ferry was big, and has comfy seats, comfier than the Cebu Pac airbus. Hehehe. It took us about an hour to reach the Macau Ferry Terminal.

We exchanged around HKD500 for Patacas (MOP), Macau's currency. Then we chose among the free hotel busses. We rode the MGM Grand bus, following fellow Pinoys who also looked liked they are not planning to check-in ;-).

MGM Grand was really grand! What a lobby! I felt like a fairy tale princess.

Then we had lunch at the nearby.. Mc Donald's! They don't have spaghetti, rice and chicken meals. So I tried their Big and Tasty Meal. We should have that here. Masarap! Super!

Afterwards we walked and searched for Senado Square and the nearby attractions. There were lots of fellow Pinoys in Macau. Tourists, residents and store staff.

Who the hell?!?

We bought Macau souvenirs - I heart Macau shirts, key chains, and yes, Macau's pride - Pastelaria Koi Kei Egg Tart, Almond Cookies and Beef Jerky!

After our pictorials, we sampled 3 big Casinos - Grand Lisboa, Wynn and MGM Grand.

We again took the MGM Grand bus back to the Ferry Terminal.

Once again, we had dinner along Lock Road.
